Grey Heron Cottage is a recent addition to our collection and has quickly become a guest favourite. This beautifully appointed stand-alone self-catering unit runs on its own solar power system, offering a peaceful and eco-conscious retreat in the heart of the Midlands.

The cottage features a spacious bedroom with a comfortable queen-size bed, complete with an electric blanket, thick snuggle blankets and a remote-controlled wall fan for seasonal comfort. The en-suite bathroom includes a shower, hand basin and loo, with quality bath towels, hand towels and face cloths provided. Fluffy adult-sized dressing gowns add a touch of luxury for our guests.

The open-plan lounge and dining area is warmed by a wood-burning combustion fireplace, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere throughout. The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas hob, dishwasher, convection microwave, medium-sized fridge, Nespresso pod coffee machine, kettle, toaster, pots, pans, crockery and cutlery — everything needed to feel right at home.

Entertainment is covered with a flat-screen HD television and DSTV bouquet, while complimentary coffee, tea, sugar, milk, salt, pepper, dishwashing liquid, dishwasher pods and basic toiletries such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper and Tabbard are thoughtfully supplied.

Step out onto the wraparound private veranda and take in uninterrupted views of the surrounding valley, neighbouring farmlands and the majestic Drakensberg mountains. The veranda is furnished with comfortable outdoor seating and a dining table, along with a charcoal barbecue, tongs and firelighters — perfect for relaxed braais in the fresh country air.
